Major Doctor Who Spoiler

Okay, you have been warned. You have the choice not to go on.

So, still wanna know?

Your last chance.

On this thread (you need to sign up, but if you're a serious spoiler hound, it's worth it) in the Outpost Gallifery forums, infamous scooper Scooty has snapped a pic of David Tennant's Doctor in a (what looks like contemporary) book shop where there's a signing for a book with a very telling title... and author: A Journal Of Impossible Things by Verity Newman. And if that doesn't get you all excited we suggest you watch "Human Nature"/"Family Of Blood" again.

Blimey. That's an exciting development we weren't expecting.

Meanwhile, Planet Gallifrey has a ton of new pictures from "Planet Of The Dead" including this guy:

So, does the episode also feature a fly with a scientist's head, crying, "Help me! Help me!"?

Well, I'm not chancing another comment from a Who fan claiming we didn't give enough warning.

And, don't you think it's cool. My mind is buzzing with possibilities.

I was watching the filming this morning, along with some of the other Who watchers - it was very exciting when we first saw the posters for the book "A Journal of Impossible Things" by Verity Newman, and even more exciting when we saw that Jessica Hynes was the one doing the book signings! Joan's granddaughter, perhaps? Much more intriguing than the rumoured reappearances of Rose, Martha and Donna!

I've put a report on the Podcast of Impossible Things blog with my own photos and links to other people's photos: http://podcastofimpossiblethings.blogspot.com/2009/03/doctor-who-bookshop-filming-spoilers.html

And that's you just given it away right there. Looks interesting though.

is it on a commentary or something where someone mentions something like this?

Interesting, but obvious really; I'm sure there were at least a few fans who speculated about what happened to John Smith's journal.
You needn't have built it up so much- if you're gonna make this much fuss about a spoiler next time I'll expect nothing less than McGann and Eccleston on set, alright!

Isn't it refreshing to be free from the latter days of original Doctor Who, where writers and directors would pander to the fans with obscure back-references to the continuity of the show, harking back to previous episodes that new viewers might not have even seen? I for one am very pleased that RTD has been so firm in his refusal to go that route. Forward to the future, say I.

Might just watch that one though...a last look before the yoof Doctor takes over and I become officially too old for nuWho. So there, your spoiler has in fact inclined me to watch something I wasn't planning to.

So.... the exciting spoiler is.... a minor reference to a previous story?

Dave, have a lie down, and some warm milk.

I very much doubt it's a "minor reference".

You think he's just going to walk past - see the signing - and , after a witty exchange, walk on with a cheery grin?

Hardly likely: This can only be the lynchpin of the entire story.

Yeah, but it's still a far from Earth-shattering revelation. You'd think Michelle Ryan's character was gonna turn out to be Romana from the way they go on and on above.

I guess Dave just really likes Jessica Wotsit.
