Jackman’s Robot Rocky Greenlit

Shawn (Night At The Museumn) Levy will direct the $80 million film, which is based on a short story by Richard Matheson that was adapted into an episode (“Steel”, pictured above) for the fifth season of the original Twilight Zone in 1963, starring Lee Marvin. Jackman will play an ex-fighter who becomes a promoter when human boxing is outlawed for being too violent and robots take the place of the living fighters. Levy describes the film as a, “rousing sports movie” with Jackman's character being, “a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he's good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace.” |

Is Twilight Zone set to replace comics as Hollywood’s primary inspiration for blockbusters? Maybe. Director Richard Kelly‘s The Box was an adaptation of the episode “Button, Button" and now Spielberg’s DreamWorks has greenlit the Rocky-esque robot tale Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman, with filming will start next June.
