Housing Estate With A Discworld Theme

Terry Pratchett travelled to Wincanton in Somerset yesterday to unveil some Discworld-themed road names at a new housing estate, reports bbc.co.uk.

The Kingwell Rise development will include such road names as Peach Pie Street and Treacle Mine Road. Residents voted for the winning names from a shortlist of 14 provided by Terry himself. Wincanton was officially twinned with Discworld’s city of Ankh-Morpork in 2002.

How long before Wincanton builds an Unseen University?

This morning's Metro ran a story of this: nice big photo of Mr Pratchett leaning on a sign that said "Peach Pie Street" and an article that said the street was being named "Peace Pie Street".

I don't suppose there are any properties going there at the moment?

I was almost fed up of the number of articles that called it "Peace Pie Street" I mean its not difficult to get TWO street names right, is it? "Peach Pie Street" and "Treacle Mine Road" - There - easy!

Hope there's more though.

I wonder if the dodgy part of town is already nicknamed "The Shades"
