GREAT PICS! Karen Gillan Filming Doctor Who

Check out these amazing shots of the latest Doctor Who filming in Cardiff. We are officially in love with Karen Gillan. Is that skirt legal on a family show? And look, that’s Matt Smith wearing Doctor Ten’s outfit – scotching those daft rumours that we wouldn’t be seeing a regeneration.

Our first thought was, “Wow, look at that pert bottom…" But then we looked at what Gillan was wearing, and our second thought was, “Didn’t realise she was a police woman.” Our third thought was, “In a skirt like that?” So we’re assuming she might be out on a Hen Night. Or something.

Anyway, enjoy. We did.

EDIT! New pics of Matt Smith filming in Cardiff here.

Oh, and check out our all-new interview with "Waters Of Mars" director Graeme Harper here.

Wow, I wish all Policeman Officers looked like that!

Modern police uniform (fancy dress or not), so she's another present day companion. Damn. Hoping for a 60s, 70s or 80s companion, for some reason. Tried zooming into the ice lolly prices to be sure, but to no avail.

Judging from the state of the Doc's clothes it looks like he's been through the ringer! And Karen is amazingly beautiful!!

hmm... hwtas that thing the dr's holding? looks like a radio or something, but not like a modern radio. perhaps this is the 90's? we'll have to see.

It looks like a pretty modern police uniform to me....

I have to agree with Meddling Monkfish, whats the fascination with taking companions from 'now'. Seems to me like a lack of imagination! Bringing a human from the past (or future) would be another toy that the script writers could play with...

Posted by Andy (127.0.0.1) on October 05, 2009 at 01:58 PM BST #

Surely Amy is not from 'now' though - she's from 1995.

Monkfish & Adam, its unfortunately set in stone that the companion must be:
1. Female
2. Modern day
3. From London
4. 'feisty'

Blooming heck! Urm are we sure that's the current police woman's uniform? I doubt that it's going to be a hen night reference on Dr Who
This is going to be interesting!

Those rips on the Doc's shirt look v intriguing! Almost like animal claw marks? Could be a really savage regeneration!

they are CLEARLY using karen as the draw because that neanderthal child is NOT gonna sell pin-up boy magazines, LOL!

...and the first photo makes it crystal clear that no one can work those clothes like a Mr. David Tennant! ;D

Kind of reminds me of when Colin Baker had to wear Peter Davison's costume...

Apart from fan speculation on certain blogs based on some set dressing (which could be for any particular part of an episode), is there anything concrete to say she is definitely from 1995?

If she is, fantastic. :)

SFX, you've made an old (seedy?) man very happy!

Karen looking lovely.

Oh, and you can take it from me that for this episode only, our favourite time-and-space travelling machine dispenses 99s through a hatch. It's back in more traditional form later.

If that was the Tardis with the chameleon circuit temporarily working properly, I'd be quite happy. As would Character Options, who would be the second toy company within a year who'd be flogging ice cream van toys within an action figure range.

She can take down my particulars. Am I the first to say it? Am I??

I've seen into the future. After Amy Pond, the 11th Doctor's next companion wears a French Maid's outfit. River Song debuts in a PVC nurses costume.

Sorry to put a dampener on all this; and I know that Doctor Who has a long tradition of leggy lovelies, but in the nearer future I can't help thinking real WPCs might be rather annoyed at the fetishisation/objectification. That will probably be The First Complaint when the new series airs.

Here are some bits I heard at the filming today.
The doctor argues with Amy whether the pond they are standing next to can really be described as a "Duck Pond". The doctor falls to the floor, his regeneration apparantly unfinished. They look up at the sky. Amy asks what's going on, why has it gone dark? The Doctor says "They've sealed off the upper atmosphere. They're preparing to boil the earth". Amy asks if he is going to help. He doesn't seem particularly intersted in helping. He looks around to see that people, rather than running from whatever doom is impending, are pointing their camera phones at it.

I'm in lust with Karen Gillan and she can hit me with her rhythm stick anytime she wants.
Those hips, those thighs.

So how long before she has to snog the Doctor for no viable reason?
Time Vortex Energy transfer
Genetic Transfer
A "Shock"

What will it be this time? "Kissing is a ritual greeting on this planet. Really, it is!"

Good to see Dr Who fans arent falling into the stereotype of the sexually frustrated nerd whose hormones go ballistic at the sight of a vaguely attractive woman.....er...

I heard that the Doctor steals Amy's trousers because his are ripped and that explains her costume (or lack there of).

at last someone to make people forget rose tyler
karen looks fantastic

Posted by martin (127.0.0.1) on October 11, 2009 at 12:07 PM BST #

Well it looks to me that its about time there was something to look at for the Dads. You girls have had DT for far too long. Rose Tyler was ok, but then we only got one series of her. Martha really did not hack it and neither did Donna as a sexy pin up girl. I don't really care if she wears a short skirt or not. This is modern Britain and its hardly sexist as she is on par with The Doctor as are a lot of the Female companions. Anyway remember Nissa in that famous straggling scene LOL. Tegan in that short mini skirt?? Peri so its hardly new.

Yes he isnt DT DUHHH. He is a new Doctor a new face a new way of doing things. It is the tradition of the show. We hate to see them leave but after 3 mins we are into the new Doctor and looking forward to things.

What would Gene Hunt say? That's what I want to know.

This thread confirms yet again that puritanism and sexual immaturity occupy two sides of the same coin. Not intended as criticism, just an observation. I mean, is there really something so scandalous about a woman wearing a short skirt? In 2009? Women's liberation was fifty years ago!

Posted by 4thdoctorfan (127.0.0.1) on February 02, 2010 at 06:35 PM GMT #

I wish to add that Ms. Gillan does indeed look fantastic. So does Mr. Smith. They seem a natural pairing: hip, smart, fun, stylish but a bit nerdy. In Stephen Moffat's capable hands, it's sure to be a series imbued with a profound and infectious spirit of fun and adventure.

Cheers.
