Emmerich Still Plans Independence Day 2
|
While on his press rounds for his latest end-of-the-world flick 2012 (pssst – the twist this time is it’s Noah’s Ark) Roland Emmerich confirmed to Latino Review that he would still like to make an Independence Day sequel: “Dean Devlin and I are still set to make a sequel likely because we’ve found some sort of idea and we approached Fox and Fox has not quite figured out how to incorporate Dean’s and my deal, and Will’s [Smith’s] deal. Will wants to do it in some sort of a package they can live with. So it's just been in negations now since forever, and naturally FOX says ‘Why don’t you do it without Will Smith?’ I said, ‘Will is essential for us, for this movie and actually for the audience too.’ And, so, it's in limbo and lately the studios are fighting. Like gross players, and Will is a gross player and is probably the only gross player right now who’s worth his gross. So we’ll see what happens. I would love to do it.” |

But I do share your with you the fact that it's been too long coming and a sequal should be made, and soon. Surely Fox can see that ID4 2 would bring in the money. So why argue over a deal to get Will Smith involved?

OK, ID4 weren't the best film ever, but it's got spaceships and lasers and stuff. I thought you guys liked SF?!?!?!
Maybe I'm just not picky....

But if there is a sequel please bring back Adam Baldwins character and make him one of the leads.
