David Tennant To Star In US TV Pilot

Could David Tennant be the next Hugh Laurie, and a bit a Brit taking US TV by storm? It’s possible. Now that he’s finished Doctor Who he’s nabbed himself a starring role in US TV comedy-drama pilot for NBC.

The show is called Rex Is Not Your Lawyer, and is about a top Chicago litigator who begins suffering panic attacks and takes up coaching clients to represent themselves in court. The pilot will be directed by David Semel, who called the shots on the pilots for Heroes and Life. Semel will also serve as a producer on the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “NBC greenlighted the project in August, about two years after it was first developed, and had been trying to find a lead actor for several months until Tennant came along and nailed the part.”

No info yet on whether he’ll be attempting an American accent, though we all know he’s good at accents anyway. Just as long as he wasn’t taking tips from Michelle Ryan while filming “Planet Of The Dead”…

I think this is a bad move, perhaps David doesn't realise that the US tends to have 20-23 episodes a series and likes to sign up their actors for 3-5 years!

A US show... about a LAWYER?! What will they think of next?

Well, best of British to him, either way.

And pay them 10 times what he'd get in the UK.

Why does Eli Stone come to mind.

Although it'll be great to see Tennant on the telly again

Oh my God really!!?? Is there anyway we can get in contact with David Tennant or his agent so that we can give them this amazing piece of insider industry information that you've got?

/sarcasm.

I think it's safe to say that he's probably already aware of this.
