Rick Worthy, who played Cylon Simon in Battlestar Galactica, has nabbed a new role on Heroes. He’ll be playing Matt Parkman's (Greg Grunberg) new partner, an experienced and capable Los Angeles cop and someone that Matt can lean on for advice. Worthy is a sci-fi veteran, with appearances on Enterprise, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Stargate SG-1, Dark Angel, Saving Grace, Journeyman, Eli Stone and Odyssey 5. Other new Heroes cast members include Robert (Prison Break) Knepper, Madelina (Californication) Zima and Ray (Darth Maul) Park. Anyone brave enough to put a bet on that any of them don’t develop powers of some sort? The odds are short...

I liked the idea of introducing background characters that may or may not show up again or go onto become series regulars (Caitlin, West, Daphne, Alex the Aquateen and many more) as they round out the Heroes universe. It reminds me of comic universes, where Heroes has it's origins, and where many minor characters are often introduced to help move the plot along and provide contrast and conflict for the main characters. That said I would dearly love to have some resolution to these background character's stories instead of them being killed by Sylar as usually happens. I've lost count of how many powers that guy has now but it's odd how he always relies on the same two or three powers for every fight/murder.
That aside I still think Heroes is one of the best shows on TV and can't wait for the next series to air.
