BLOG Being Human series two

We loved the awesome Being Human, the last episode of which was broadcast on Sunday. Narin Bahar reveals what the BBC has planned for the next series in terms of scheduling:

Being Human not moving home for series two

Tabloid newspapers can be the bane of genre fans' lives. As anyone who relies on the red tops for information about the latest Doctor Who developments knows, for every story which gives an interesting nugget about a future show there's a dozen others which are, frankly, rubbish.

So when Being Human became BBC Three's shining star of the moment, finishing on Sunday with impressive ratings and being commissioned for a second season before the first one had even finished airing, the Daily Star was first on hand with an exclusive about how the show would be doing a Gavin and Stacey and heading direct to BBC Two.

But it turns out the fans needn't lose any sleep over the show being repackaged for a more mainstream audience sensibility. The BBC has come out and said the show will be staying exactly where it is, with a Press Office spokeswoman telling us this afternoon: "We can confirm that Being Human will be returning to BBC Three for its second series."

It's arguably the pithiest statement in the history of PR, but rest assured this snappy snippet means we can all breathe a sigh of relief and settle back and wait for season two with a little (possibly Johnny Cash penned) song in our hearts. And with creator Toby Whithouse already giving us hints on what to expect I think it's fair to say it'll be worth waiting for.

In the meantime if you're getting Sunday night withdrawal symptoms, Being Human is viewable on the iPlayer for the rest of the month, and also available to preorder on DVD, while two of the supernatural triumvirate - Lenora Crichlow and Russell Tovey - will be appearing at the Collectormania Midlands signing event on 18 and 19 April.

Daily Star in no research shocker

To be fair, if you read the Daily Star or any other tabloid for news, then you deserve to be lied to.

Erm, I would have no issues with a move to BBC2.

I'd rather more people got to see what a bloody great series it is.

I just watched the first episode last night, and I LOVE IT! I love UK science fiction. (I'm in Canada). Will someone from the UK adopt me?
