Anthony Hopkins Is Odin In Thor
|
But hang on… Didn’t Brian Blessed think he was playing Odin? What’s happened there? Was it all just internet scuttlebutt, wishful thinking or has Brian been cast in some other role in the film? It’s a shame – we still reckon Blessed would be a much better Odin. Well, a much louder Odin anyway. But Hopkins is clearly a better name to have attached to the movie in terms of marketing the film in America, and he certainly has never been afraid to ham things up when necessary. Or even unnecessary in the case of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. |

Anthony Hopkins has been cast as Odin, the Thunder God’s dad (and head honcho is Asgard) in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, the Marvel Comic adaptation that begins production in January. Chris Hemsworth is playing Thor, and Tom Hiddelston plays his nemesis, god of mischief, Loki (another of Odin’s offspring). Natalie Portman is also set to play Thor’s love interest, Jane Foster.

Volstagg, was always, LOUD, and boisterous; normally found with a flagon of mead in hand, and would be the perfect part for Brian Blessed!

I don't care if Thor is alive if Brian Blessed isn't there as Odin to comment on the state of the thunder god's health.
Sod Anthony Hopkins and all those misguided small-minded Harvard MBA Hollywood film studio bureaucrats thinking with their coinpurses instead of what artistic heights "Thor" could have risen to.
It could have been the second greatest film of all time after "Flash Gordon", of course.
