Actors who are also sci-fi fans

Blog site io9 has a great little list of sci-fi stars who really get fandom, because they're into it themselves. Their list is:

Kristen Bell
Wil Wheaton
David Tennant
Felicia Day
Nathan Fillion
David Duchovny
Ben Browder
Simon Pegg

We agree that Tennant is a lifelong Doctor Who fan, and we know Nathan Fillion understands comics and conventions because we spoke to him about it (here and here). Check out io9's round-up here. Can you think of anybody else they should have listed?

Maybe it would be a good idea to list phoney SF fans - you know, the actors who don't have a clue about the genre, get a role in an SF blockbuster or high profile TV show and then claim to be big fans...

Tommy Lee Jones. I remember seeing an interview he did as publicity for his role as Two-Face in Batman Forever. He was asked if he read comics as a kid, and he said, yeah, he loved them - all those heroes, like Batman and Elastic Man.

Elastic Man?! There's a Plastic Man and an Elongated Man, Tommy Lee Jones, but no ELASTIC MAN, you shameless fraud!!! >:(

And yes, I did shout this at the television, but just because I'm clearly mental doesn't mean he isn't a phoney.

Its been proven that Canadians know their sci- fi.. But I would like to add these two candidates;

David Hewlett- Star of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, Scanners2, Cypher, Cube, Mutant X and Pin and who is also a lifelong fan of Doctor Who.

And (I know no one will agree but anywho);

Dan Aykroyd- For his wacky original idea for Ghostbusters, the two movies AND for co writing the new game.
