A Supernatural Place To End

Supernatural

Supernatural showrunner Eric Kripke has told Entertainment Weekly that the the fifth season of Supernatural – which will air from Autumn 2009 to Spring 2010 in the States – will be the show’s last, according to Airlock Alpha. And he says ratings won’t change his mind.

"Despite what the network and studio may or may not want, I don't have more than five seasons of a story," Kripke said. "I would be willing to make sure there are enough villains and heroes around to continue a new story, but there's no way I'm doing Season six."

The question now is, does that mean a Supernatural movie? After all this is what executive producer McG told SFX last November: "“Obviously, Eric Kripke is the architect of the show. And Kripke is just such a smart, passionate guy that I’ve laid it out to him that should he ever decide to pull the trigger, and make the feature, I'll be there every step of the way to help to help navigate the tricky journey that it is to get something greenlit and actually made with integrity. So that’s my commitment to him, and it's up to him."

While i would be sad to see the show go, if it came to an end naturally and properly, i wouldn't mind so much. it's certainly the best show of it's type and has amde the wonderful buffy-verse look a little, well not quite childish, maybe teenagerish(it's a new word)

The hardest thing to do isn't making an entrance but knowing when to leave and if Kripke's big enough to know when to do that then I have nothing but admiration for him. It's far better that the show do five great years (And season 4 has been astonishing so far) than five great years and four okay ones.

I'm a huge SPN fan, but I'm glad the show will attempt to go out on a high rather than keep going until they're grasping for storylines. With both Lost creator JJ Abrams and Kripke making the decision to tell their story on their terms, maybe more genre TV will follow suit.

That's not to say there won't be a gaping hole in TV schedule after the Winchester brothers are gone! I vote for a Bobby Singer spin-off... Fighting demons and scrapping cars! Okay, maybe not.

The end of a good show. Hope they give it a good end. A movie would be great. Its one of the best shows around at the moment. Season 4 has been the best so far. Lets hope the last season will be as good if not better.

Great show, always loved it from the very beginning (unlike certain magazine reviewers who slated it if memory serves)so obviously i'll be sad to see it go, but if they do it properly it'll be fine. A movie would be cool, a big apocalyptic story full of bad ass special effects and awesome action is what they'd need to do though, not just an extended episode of the show like the recent X Files movie.

While I am not thrilled that it would end after only 5 seasons, it is better they go out while the quality is still high (season 4 is really becoming my favorite season of the show) instead of prolonging it to the point where it should have been cancelled sooner or having jumped the shark.

Well iam a huge SNL fan and it is sad to hear that season 5 will be the last and I only hope that they will end it with a bang. I love Jensen and Jared and i hope that after SNL they would become huge movie stars.

First BSG, than Lost, now Supernatural. And Dollhouse will be cancelled then. What will we watch?
