Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman

Luther creator Neil Cross has confirmed that he will be writing another episode of Doctor Who for series eight following the excellent “Hide” and the iffy “Rings Of Akhaten” in series 7, while Neil Gaiman has confirmed he has been asked to write a third episode for the show (following the excellent “The Doctor’s Wife” and the okayish sort of “Nightmare In Silver”) but isn’t sure whether it’ll be ready for series eight. He told Doctor Who Online: “They would like to have me, I would like to do more… The only problem I’m having right now is the time that I probably would’ve spent writing a Doctor Who script this year suddenly got eaten by going on tour. I would love to write an episode for season eight; it may well be that I’m over in season nine, but I promise I haven’t gone away.”

Coming Soon has a pretty new image from The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug amongst others. Click on the image for a larger version.

• Director DJ Caruso (Disturbia, Eagle Eye) tells I Am Rogue that he is still attached to a big screen version of Preacher: “We’re wrestling with Sony because I got another movie at Sony called Invertigo, which is a big action film we’re trying to get going this summer. So Preacher got put on the back burner, but we’re still involved with Preacher and hopefully we’ll have some good news on that soon. Todd August wrote a great script. I think it’s one of those features that has to kind of go through the studio system if it’s going to be made for a certain price. So we’re kind of revisiting a way to approach making the movie in the right way.”

Capital Couture, the viral site for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, has posted a new image and profile of District 7′s former champion Johanna Mason (Jena Malone), who is set to re-enter the arena to participate in this year’s Quarter Quell.

• ShockTillYouDrop.com has the tasteful poster for new supernatural horror +1, from Dennis Iliadis, the director of Last House On The Left (2009). It’s being released in the States in September but we suspect a straight-to-DVD release here (certainly there’s no official release date yet). It’s about three college friends who are at the biggest party of the year, when a mysterious phenomenon starts killing the partygoers.

Coming Soon has six new punning posters from Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 – click on the image or link to have a look at larger versions.

• Gregg Henry, who appeared in James Gunn’s Super and Slither, will be reteaming with the director on Guardians Of The Galaxy, though he doesn’t reveal what role he’ll be playing.

• The BBC has released a teaser trailer for Atlantis, but it’s nothing to get too excited about…
