JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Company In Talks About Half-Life and Portal Movies

Although it’s very early days yet, JJ Abrams revealed to an audience at the 2013 DICE  conference in Las Vegas yesterday that his production company Bad Robot is in talks with videogame developer Valve about the possibility of making movies based on Portal and Half-Life.

“It’s as real as anything in Hollywood ever gets,” Abrams said. “Which is that we are really talking to Valve, we are going to be bringing on a writer, we have a lot of very interesting ideas.”

He added, “We’ve had so many meetings and finally got to a point where we said, ‘We need to start making stuff.’ And so the ideas that we’ve had for games, the ideas they’ve had for turning Portal and Half-Life into a film, we just decided we actually have to start doing this stuff.”

So, don’t get excited just yet, but yeah, GLaDOS on the big screen. We can buy into that.

And a special virtual wooden spoon prize for the first person to write in the comments section, “Just as long as Damon Lindelof doesn’t write the script.”
