Bradley Cooper is set to star as depressed true crime writer David Neff in Warner Bros’ big screen adaptation of the book The Man From Primrose Lane by James Renner (see our baffled review here). According to Deadline Chad Feehan (Paranormal Activity 4) will adapt the screenplay from the story about the murder of a mitten-loving hermit, the investigation of whose death spins off into increasingly ludicrous plot developments.

• Fox is set to make a movie version of writer/artist Matt Kindt’s comic book series Mind MGMT, with Ridley Scott on board to produce. The 36-issue story, which was first published in May 2012, and here’s the official synopsis: “Reporting on a commercial flight where everyone aboard lost their memories, a young journalist stumbles onto a much bigger story, the top-secret Mind Management program. Her ensuing journey involves weaponised psychics, hypnotic advertising, talking dolphins, and seemingly immortal pursuers, as she attempts to find the flight’s missing passenger, the man who was Mind MGMT’s greatest success – and its most devastating failure. But in a world where people can rewrite reality itself, can she trust anything she sees?” [via The Hollywood Reporter]

• Eva Green (Casino Royale, Camelot) has nabbed a key role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For: the film’s deadly muse, Ava Lord. Ava, an iconic character from Frank Miller’s original graphic novel, is described as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares.” Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have issued a statement saying: ‘We’ve been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.” Up and coming actress Julia Garner has also been added to the cast as a stripper. [via Coming Soon]

• The US ABC TV network has ordered a few more pilots, one of which is definitely SFX territory, the other of which may be. Gothica is a modern-day Gothic soap that weaves together the mythologies of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein and Dorian Gray, among others. Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) will pen the prospective series, with the aforementioned Mark Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy) producing. Big Thunder, meanwhile, is based on the Disney theme park ride Big Thunder Mountain, and is about a late 19th century New York doctor and his family who relocate to a frontier mining town run by a powerful, but mysterious tycoon. Unfortunately, they quickly realise that not everything in the titular city is as it seems. [via TVLine]
