Iceman, Rogue And Kitty Pryde Confirmed For X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Bryan Singer has tweeted confirmation that three more stars from the original X-Men film trilogy will be back in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, the film that will combine cast from both the original trilogy and X-Men First Class.

They are Anna Paquin (Rogue), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat), and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman).

“Thank you @BrettRatner for letting them live!” he added, referring to the director of X-Men: Last Stand. Though Ratner killed off Professor X and Patrick Stewart is apparently coming back, so make of that what you will.

Other cast members confirmed to return include Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Hugh Jackman.

Quite what kind of participation the stars returning from the original trilogy will have is unclear (the plot is based on a comic strip story which is partly set in a dystopian alternate future), but there would seem to be a lot of scheduling issues with a “main” cast so huge which suggests they may just be cameos or secondary roles. But the timey-wimey element would also excuse the fact that some of the younger cast members look a lot older now.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled for release on 18 July 2014.
