Marvel’s SHIELD Casts Final Regular Character

Marvel’s SHIELD – the TV spin-off to The Avengers that’s been created by Joss Whedon – has found its final regular cast member.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chloe Benett will play Skye,“a confident woman who is slightly obsessed with superhero culture and the shadow organisations that exist within it. She’s edgy and can out-talk anyone with her unflappable nature.” Yep, that ticks a few Whedon boxes.

Bennet, who previously appeared in a number of episodes of the TV series Nashville, will star alongside Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson (yep, we’re still very interested to see how that works), Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons, and Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May.

The series will begin filming in January and is expected to air in the fall of 2013. Joss Whedon will direct the pilot and co-write it with his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.
