Electro Won’t Be In Traditional Green And Yellow In Amazing Spider-Man 2

Jamie Foxx, the actor playing Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has told Blackfilm.com (via Coming Soon) that the supervillain won’t be wearing his traditional green and yellow costume from the movie… and we can’t say we’re sad about it – it’s hard to take a villain seriously when he looks like a ripening banana.

“It won’t be green and yellow,” he confirms. “It will be a different color. [The producers] want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic bookie, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happen. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.

“In the script, this villain is the first time it’s been written well. Andrew Garfield and [director] Marc Webb both commented on how great the script is, so it should be an exciting time.”

Hmm, anyone else worried that “ liquid rubber and things like that…” sounds horrifically like another attempt at a Green Lantern-style CG-enhanced suit? Let’s hope not.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently scheduled for a UK release on 18 April 2014.
