Original Star Wars Trilogy Scripter Back For New Trilogy, Claims Deadline
Lawrence Kasdan, who worked on the scripts for The Empire Strikes Back and The Return Of The Jedi (as well as Raiders Of The Lost Ark) is making a return to the Star Wars franchise, according to Deadline.
The site reported yesterday that Disney has approached Kasdan, and also X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days Of Future Past scripter Simon Kinberg, to work on Episodes VIII and IX based on plans sketched out by George Lucas, while Michael Arndt continues work on Episode VII as previously reported.
Then later in the day, Deadline writer Borys Kit Tweeted, “Here’s what I’m hearing on the Star Wars writers: not courting but that deals are closed. And they will also be producers.”
Deadline isn’t a site that usually goes in for rumour-mongering unless it has strong belief in is sources, so this looks like it could be kosher.
