• New US-style Godzilla director has promised in a Total Film interview to take a very realistic approach in the new film: “I’ve always been interested in Godzilla and the ideas around him. I really wanted to see another Godzilla film and jumped at the opportunity. My main idea was to imagine ‘If this really happened, what would it be like?’ I want to take a grounded, realistic approach to a Godzilla film.” And on the design of the new creature, he has this to say: “I’ve never worked this hard, this long and been this emotionally involved in something that’s lasted only a few seconds since the time I lost my virginity! But the reaction has been amazing and I can’t wait for the fans to see our final product.”

• Fox has moved the premiere of season two of the Kiefer Sutheland show Touch from 26 October to early 2013. • Doctor Horrible co-writer Maurissa Tancharoen tells MTV that a Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog 2 is still possible. “We’re working on it… The goal is that we are going to be shooting next year, and getting the script and everything done at the end of this year. So that is something that we’re actually physically working on now. We’ll invent something that will make our lives difficult but we’ll also have a grand time doing it.” [via IO9]
• Seems that while Beetlejuice 2 is bubbling away nicely, with Burton backing it (as producer at least) and Michael Keaton expressing interest in returning to the lead role, nobody’s spoken to Winona Ryder about it yet. The actress tells Ain’t It Cool News, “I don’t really know what’s going on. I know something is being written. I think I’m sort of old fashioned about not giving anything away, but there’s actually nothing for me to give away!” She does admit, however, that she would consider taking part: “I would be really interested in that because it’s such an iconic movie. Again, it’s the movie little kids come up to me about and when I’m going through airport security they make me say ‘Beetlejuice’ three times or I’ll miss my plane! So, it is ingrained in us in a way. It would be very, very interesting to see. I just don’t know yet what the story is. Obviously it’s Michael and Tim’s film, their collaboration and vision and I was just so lucky enough to be cast in it. I like to think I brought something to it.”
