300 Sequel Has A New Name

The sequel formerly known as 300: The Battle Of Artemisia now has a new name, presumably because focus groups in America thought Artemisia was a brand of perfume… or something.

Warner Bros has announced that it will now be called 300: Rise Of An Empire, possibly because everybody loves a sequel with “Empire” in the title (now that Wrath Of The Titans has ruined any feelgood factor the word “Wrath” used to bring to any sequels).

The movie, like the original, is based on a Frank Miller graphic novel, and features Greek General Themistocles, who lead Athens against Persian invaders in a battle that happened at the same time as the Battle of Thermopylae, which was the basis of the first film.

It is being directed by Noam Murro and stars Eva Green, Sullivan Stapleton and Lena Headey.
