• Warner Bros is planning to adapt Dan Krokos’ as-yet-unpublished young adult novel The Planet Thieves as a movie. The story concerns a a group of inexperienced cadets who have to take back a spaceship that has been taken over by aliens. [via Deadline]

• Michael Emerson (Ben Linus in Lost, Person Of Interest) has been revealed as the voice of the Joker in Warner Animation’s The Dark Knight Returns Part 2. [via TV Guide]

• Joss Whedon reacts to some of the most extremely negative reviews of The Avengers: “People are allowed to not like the film, but I do get annoyed when somebody really hasn’t done their homework. A lot of reporting in the negative reviews . . . was more like they were reviewing the [superhero] genre than the movie itself.” [via The New York Post]

• “Asylum Of The Daleks” was pulled in 620,000 viewers to Canada’s Space Channel last Saturday, making it the second highest rated episode in the Doctor Who’s history on the channel (after “Let’s Kill Hitler”). [via Doctor Who News]

• Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism Of Emily Rose) has signed to direct the paranormal police thriller Beware The Night.  Derrickson will also rewrite the script: The story is set in a paranormal world and follows a New York police officer investigating real life demon possessions, exorcisms and werewolves after dark.
