Ciaran Hinds Is Game Of Thrones’ King-Beyond-the-Wall
There’s been a a lot of speculation about who would play Wildling leader Mance Rayder, the King-Beyond-the-Wall in season three of Game Of Thrones. It needed to be someone with some serious acting chops. And that’s exactly who the producers have secured in Ciarán Hinds, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Hinds has a massive CV of impressive film and TV appearances stretching right back to a small role as Lot in director John Boorman’s 1981 Excalibur. He’s currently appearing on ITV as DCI James Langton in the Above Suspicion series, and played Aberforth Dumbledore (younger brother of Albus Dumbeldore) in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Other key roles for the Belfast-born actor include Gaius Julius Caesar in the TV series Rome, plus appearances in Road To Perdition, The Phantom of the Opera, Munich, There Will Be Blood and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
In Game Of Thrones, Rayder has united the disparate clans of the Far North behind a single mission: to attack The Wall. Though he hasn’t been seen on screen yet, he’s been mentioned frequently in the first two seasons. In the second season finale, Jon Snow was being taken to meet him.
