Sony Animation has released seven new poster for Hotel Transylvania, featuring some of the core characters from the animated movies that hits UK cinemas on Friday 12 October (as opposed to the date on the posters which is the US release date).
Of course, the posters can’t reveal the best thing about Hotel Transylvania – that it’s directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the genius behind Dexter’s Laboratory,Samurai Jack and the 2D cartoon version of Star Wars: Clone Wars. Check out the trailer at the foot of this article, and you’ll see that his trademark quirky energy is well in evidence.
In fact, SFX interviewed Tartakovsy recently for issue 127 of the main mag, and while we’ll leave the juiciest quotes for then, the poster of the Invisible Man (aka, Griffin) did remind us of one of our favourite responses he gave.
Rather facetiously we asked, “Was it difficult animating the Invisible Man?” expecting him just to laugh and tell us not to be so silly. Instead he said. “Yeah, really difficult,” with a hint of sarcasm before adding, “He did cause some problems.” Explaining that he would use a pair of “floating glasses” to indicate where Griffin was in a scene, Tartakovsky added, “We had to be careful they didn’t float into such a position it looked like one of the other characters was wearing them…”
