The Shining Prequel In Very Early Stages

Warner Bros is exploring the possibility of a prequel to Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining.

According to the LA Times, the prequel is in a very early stage and not even formally in development. However a source tells the site that Warners has brought in writer-producer Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and her partners Bradley Fischer and James Vanderbilt to craft a new take on the story, which would focus on what happened before Jack Torrance, his wife and their psychic son arrived at the haunted Overlook Hotel.
