• Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Lockout) will write and direct an English language film version of long-running (1967-2010) French comic strip Valerian, a kind of Gallic Doctor Who in which a special agent travels time and space with his loyal female assistant. There’s even a plotline about how Earth (his home planet) vanished from existence in a time paradox. Watch the trailer (above) for the French/Japanese TV series – Time Jam – based on the comic series, that was first broadcast in 2007. [via Comic Book Movie]
• It’s been a rumour doing the rounds on the internet all week, but now it’s official: Disney is working on an animated feature based on the Japanese Marvel superhero team, Big Hero 6. The film is in the early stages of development, but the studio declined to comment on which filmmakers are involved at this point. Created in 1998, Big Hero 6 is a Japanese team which originally included X-Men characters Sunfire and Silver Samurai, although a new younger team recently made an appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man comic. • The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara reveals that the Governor storyline on TV may extend into a longer arc than in the comic books. “He makes a surprising appearance. I don’t want to give anything away as to the exact episode, but the audience will certainly be ready for his appearance, and they won’t have to wait too long… We’ll do things on our own time, or when it makes sense for the show. And we’re definitely looking at this Governor-Michonne-Woodbury-prison storyline as a longterm arc.” [via The Wrap]

• Chris Zylka, who plays Flash Thompson in The Amazing Spider-Man and also starred in The CW’s mercifully (for us) short-lived witch drama The Secret Circle, has been cast in an unspecified role in American Horror Story season two. Zylka tweeted that he was, “pleased, honored, humbled, and thrilled” to be joining the show. Although little is known about the part he’ll be playing Zap2it had previously reported that the show was looking to cast a bright young actor with an “offbeat, could-be scary” side to him.
