• 20th Century Fox is developing a Sesame Street movie that will be produced by Real Steel director Shawn Levy. Joey Mazzarino, who has written for the series since 1998, will provide the screenplay. [via The Hollywood Reporter]

• Scriptwriter Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction, The Rules of Attraction) has been hired to write the screenplay for Paul (RoboCop) Verhoeven’s long-in-development Jesus Of Nazareth, which will portray Jesus not as the son of God, but as as a mortal man and philosopher whose innovative ideas are responsible for the creation and spread of Christianity. The three directors of Cloud Atlas

• The big screen adaptation of David Mitchell’s book Cloud Atlas, which is being co-directed by Lana Wachowski, Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer, is set for 26 October 2012 release in the States, though we’ll have to wait until early 2013 to see it here in the UK. According to the Warner Bros press release, “Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.” [via Coming Soon]

• Former Lost actress Emilie De Ravin (she played Claire) is being promoted to a series regular star for season two of Once Upon A Time. She plays Belle (as in Beauty In The Beast) in the fairy tale show. [via TVLine]

Nikita baddie Xander Berkeley will have a major recurring role in the third season of Syfy’s US version of Being Human. He will play Brynn and Connor’s charismatic father, who is on a mission to unearth what happened to his children — and destroy all remaining vampires. In the meantime, he’ll develop a unique relationship with Kristen Hager’s Nora. [via Deadline]

• Mark Pellegrino is adding to his telefantasy CV (which already includes Lost, Being Human US, Supernatural and Chuck) with a guest appearance in Grimm season two. He will play Jarold Kempfer, one of Hank’s (Russell Hornsby) high school buddies whose daughter goes missing. He’s also a coyotl, or coyote-like creature. We’ve provided an artist’s impression of what he’ll probably look like below, though knowing Grimm, it’s doubtful it’ll look this good… [via TVLine]
