Hugh Laurie In Talks To Play RoboCop Villain

Hugh Laurie (House, Jeeves & Wooster, a half of A Little Bit Of Fry And Laurie… oh, you know who he is) is in negotiations to play the villain in director Jose Padilha’s radical remake of RoboCop, according to Heat Vision.

Laurie would be joining a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman (as Murphy/RoboCop), Gary Oldman (as the scientist who creates him) and Samuel L Jackson (as a media mogul).

Apparently, Laurie would be playing the evil and ultra-rich CEO of Omnicorp, the company that funds the creation of RoboCop. Wonder if he gets “fired” at the end?

Padilha has previously explained that his film is more like a film within the original film, exploring one aspect of it: “In the first RoboCop when Alex Murphy is shot, gunned down, you see some hospitals and stuff and then you cut to him as RoboCop. My movie is between those two cuts. How do you make RoboCop? How do you slowly bring a guy to be a robot? How do you actually take humanity out of someone and how do you program a brain, so to speak, and how does that affect an individual?”
