Mega Videogame Trailer Roundup

We’ve have the Hitman: Absolution furore (Penny Arcade sum it up best here in a comic called “Turnaround”) and now, in the countdown to E3 next week, there are swathes of game trailers being released to whet your appetite for what’s to come over the next year.

Skyrim: Dawnguard

The first bit of DLC for Skyrim promises vampires, new weaponry in crossbows and semi-aqautic dragons. All yours for 1600 Mircosoft points this summer, and a month later on PS3/PC.

Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2

After one of the biggest twist endings the Castlevania series has ever seen in the previous Lord Of Shadow we’re very excited about this one, and very interested to find out who the new character at the end of this trailer is. Could it be be Symphony Of The Night protagonist Alucard? Seek it out in 2013.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

We’re still not fans of that silly subtitle, but this game promises the “kinetic action scenes” that the Metal Gear Solid cutscenes are famed for, but this time you’ll be playing them. Made by the bods at Platinum Games who were also responsible for the brilliant Bayonetta and Vanquish. Again, seek it out in 2013.

Dishonored

It looks like Bioshock and Assassin’s Creed had a baby steampunk assassin. Count us in.

Lord Of The Rings: Guardians Of Middle Earth

Time for some online battle arena five vs five showdowns with some of Tolkien’s most recognisable characters. A Rings fanfic writer’s wetdream.

Injustice: Gods Among Us

Mortal Kombat devs NetherRealm once again take the DC heroes scrapping. Here’s hoping it fares a little better than DC vs. Mortal Kombat.

Defiance

Xbox 360 GamesE3 2012Defiance

Oh, Defiance. And there we were thinking developers had finally got over putting arbitrary dubstep in their trailers.

Star Wars 1313

That’s all the trailers for now, but that’s not all. Early last night LucasArts announced a new third person action Star Wars game dubbed Star Wars 1313. Billed as a “mature” Star Wars affair, you will play a bounty hunter tracking targets in Coruscant. A trailer looks set to launch sometime next week. Interesting that both this game and Underworld are focusing on the criminal underbelly of the Star Wars universe. A Lucas edict perhaps?

As E3 nears we’re only getting more and more excited. What trailer looks best to you? Sound off in the comments below.
