Rick Baker, the make-up genius behind such films as American Werewolf In London, Videodrome, Men In Black and How The Grinch Stole Christmas, has revealed to Coming Soon that he has created the look of evil queen (to be played by Agelina Jolie) for Disney’s Maleficent.
The film is a live-action retelling of the events in Disney’s 1959 animated version of Sleeping Beauty, telling the story from the witch’s point of view.
“They’re just starting that now,” Baker told the suite. “I designed the make-up for Angelina Jolie. At this point, I’m actually finished with that part of it.”
Angelina Jolie has previous confirmed that Maleficent in the new movie will retain the striking horned-headress look from the cartoon film.
Maleficent is being directed by Robert Stromberg from a script by Linda Woolverton, and also stars Elle Fanning, Kenneth Cranham, Lesley Manville, Miranda Richardson, Sam Riley and Imelda Staunton.
