Yep you're damn right it was. At one point I was thinking "Wow, isn't it great how Thor's hammer is just sat there sticking out of the screen." Like I said it was one reason I had to see it again in 2D and was glad I did.

Now get thee back to the cinema and do the same. You know you want to.

I finally got around to seeing it last weekend and absolutely loved it. Their are way too many highlights to list individually so I'll settle for just a few:

The Hulk: He may not have been as big as expected but he was the real highlight of the film. After the shadow hugger of the previous films it was refreshing to see a Hulk who was totally believable even in the full light of day. Get him back on the big screen now!

Hulk vs Thor/Hulk vs Loki: Loved the contrast of both Asgardian brothers going toe to toe with big green. Thor coming off pretty even while Loki was, quite literally, thrown around like a rag doll. Puny god indeed!

Hulk Smash: Talk about bringing a gun to a knife fight! Once Banner Hulked out their was absolutely no doubt that the Chitauri were going to get their asses kicked.

On the other hand their were but two lowlights:

I cannot believe that they killed Agent Coulson. He may not have been a headliner but we (Well, most of us.) have grown to love him throughout this and the preceding films and he'd become just as much of a member of the team as the 'suits'. The guy just cannot be dead.

It wasn't long enough. I seems strange when talking about a film that's two and a half hours long but I could happily have sat through at least another half hour.

It's funny you should think it wasn't long enough. The review in my local rag gave it 4 stars and was mostly positive, but one of it's two flaws was that "it’s a little too long".

It is funny you see this a lowlight. It was for precisely the reasons you give above that it was such a great moment, Agent Coulson in his death becomes the catalyst that bonds the Avengers together. It was also because we have grown to love the character so much that it was such a shocking and powerful scene. Both times I've been to see this movie the whole cinema gasps and goes silent when Agent Phil bites the bullet (Or spear in this case). You can diss Joss all you like for killing off characters, but this was a really powerful moment, and as long as this death doesn't get cheapened by having him come back somehow, a more than fitting end for a great character. Plus, at least he gets to try out the BFG on Loki's ass before he carks it.

First thing I'm checking out when the Blu Ray arrives is the deleted scenes.

I thought the 3D in the last half-hour was excellent, but rather pointless previously.

I bet no one has seen an 'Avengers' poster as crowded as this one!

Went to see this again today, this time in 3D. Gotta say it didn't add anything, if it did anything it all, it actually made it a little worse.

The film itself is as good as ever though and I even noticed a few more things this time round so yay! Also definitely angling for the extended cut.
