CUMBERBATCH BULKS UP
Benedict Cumberbatch has been stuffed like an overfed goose! At least that’s how the Sherlock actor described his preparations for his role in the much-anticipated sequel to JJ Abrams’s Star Trek, about which little is known. Speaking to Zap2It, Cumberbatch said “I’ve gone up two suit sizes. The character I’m playing, he’s strong. I can say that much. I’ve changed my physique a bit, so that requires eating like a foie gras goose, well beyond your appetite, And providing I don’t feel too ill I then work out two hours a day with a phenomenal trainer. It’s the LA way!” (via Coming Soon)
SKYFALL SNIPPETS
Sam Mendes and the effects supervisor have revealed a few details about the plot of the new Bond movie. In the early stages, “Bond’s mission has taken him to Shanghai first, and in Shanghai he gets a lead that the person he’s looking for is in Macau. He has only one very slender lead and it takes him to a casino on a lake.” We’re also promised “a big shoot-out sequence in a country home, with incendiaries coming through the windows and a big helicopter 50-cal [gun] strafing through the walls… real in-yer-face stuff.”
In other Bond news, we won’t have to wait four years for the next 007 adventure: with their financial issues sorted out, MGM have confirmed that they’re lining up Bond 24 for release in 2014. (via Empire)
FILLION CAST AS SUPERHERO
Nathan Fillion and Megan Fox will join Seth Green on a Robot Chicken DC Comics special, which will see the Justice League getting the spoofing treatment previously meted out to Star Wars. Fillion will voice the Green Lantern, with Fox as Lois Lane. Neil Patrick Harris (Two-Face), Alfred Molina (Lex Luthor), Breckin Meyer (Superman) Paul Reubens (The Riddler) are also set to lend their voices to the project, while Green himself will voice Batman, Robin and Aquaman. RICCI’S BLUE MOVIE
Christina Ricci is joining the cast of The Smurfs 2, lending her voice to an evil version of Smurfette named Vexi. We’re hoping we’ll see a return of the black humour of Ricci’s turn as Wednesday Addams in the Addams Family movies, where she stole the show with her dry, blank-faced delivery of some of the movie’s best one-liners. PIXAR TITLE REVEALED
New tidbits on upcoming Pixar projects from CinemaCon. Fans were finally given a title for their previously unnamed Film About Dinosaurs, now officially called The Good Dinosaur, funnily enough. There was also word about Monsters Inc sequel Monsters University: expect to see a teaser trailer for the movie shortly. (via Total Film)
