Avengers Or X-Men: Are Scarlet and Silver The New Grey Area?

Are the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Avengers or X-Men? It seems like an essential question, because although they are both Marvel characters, 20 Century Fox owns the rights to X-Men films. So who has the rights to turn these popular characters into movie stars? Marvel or Fox?

Both characters were originally Avengers, way back in the ’60s (they were part of the second major line-up change) and the Scarlet Witch has been a long-standing member of the team (excusing all that turning evil and killing everyone shenanigans). What complicates matters is that they’re mutants, and Magneto is their dad, which places them squarely in X-Men mythology.

So, which movie company has the rights to use them? According to Marvel Movie boss Kevin Feige, both of them – it’s a grey area.

“It’s a little complicated,” he tells Hey U Guys. “But if they [Fox] wanted to use them in a movie, they could, and if we wanted to use them in an Avengers movie, we could.”

So, where would you rather see them? In an Avengers movie or an X-Men movie?

Feige has also been downplaying the reports that an extra scene was filmed for Marvel’s Avengers Assemble as late as last week.

“I will tell you this: It was not a scene. It was not a scene,” he told Blogomatic3000. “There’s little things. It’s been blown out of proportion. Which is fun, I like that things are blown out of proportion. Sometimes they’re true sometimes they’re not.” He was also asked if there will be any changes to the current cut of the film. He said: “There is the potential that there will be one little change. People might not even notice it. It’s not a big thing.”
