Eastercon memberships now closed
The annual SF convention, this year Olympus 2012 at Heathrow, is a sell out [update: includes link to schedule]
This year’s British National Science Fiction Convention is full! Congratulations to the team on its popularity. “We have reached maximum number of members for the convention,” explains the announcement on the Eastercon website. “Booking for convention memberships is now closed. We’re sorry if you wanted to join and haven’t been able to, but we hope you will understand why – for both the convention’s and the fans’ sake – we have had to take this decision.” Memberships will not be available on the door.
Eastercon has been held over the Easter weekend every year since 1955. Taking place this year at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, Heathrow, Olympus 2012 (the title of this year’s event) promises guest talks, panels, a dealers’ room, art show and more. Olympus 2012′s guests of honour are authors Tricia Sullivan, Paul Cornell, Cory Doctorow and George RR Martin and fan guests of honour are Margaret Austin and Martin Easterbrook. You can read our interview with the committee chair Rita Medany here.
For those who have already signed up, the packed programme is available here. Registration for those who have memberships (as well as the all-important convention bar) will open from around 6pm on the Thursday. Be sure to check the latest Progress Report on the publications page of the Olympus 2012 for updated details including notes on travel, parking and convention policies.
