Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week
Some spooky bargains to get you in the mood for Halloween, discovered by Steven Ellis
Hello and welcome to the weekly SFX rummage in the sci-fi bargains bins. Considering it’s Halloween a week on Monday, which as you all know is the scariest day in the calendar (unles,s of course, you’re actually a ghost or a vampire, they find the whole thing a bit crass) we thought we’d bring you a selection of spooky and scary goodies at rock bottom internet prices.
First off check out this Price Massacre page over on Play.com. They’re going to town with the Halloween theme with a load of horror films old and new on offer. There’s plenty to chose from, with films as recent as the spooky “found footage horror” Paranormal Activity for £3:69 through to classics like Steven Spielberg’s excellent Poltergeist, also available for £3:69. There are tons of other deals on the page starting from as little as £2:99. Play also has a similar Price Massacre on Blu-ray horror movies here. The Blu-ray offers aren’t quite as cheap as those on the DVD page but with prices starting as low as £4:99 there are still bargains to be had. There should be something there to curl up with and distract you as kids dressed as ghosts bang on the door threatening to throw eggs at your house if you don’t give them sweets.
Considering today sees the start of season two of The Walking Dead on FX we thought we’d try to find the boxed set of the first season as cheap as possible. The best price we could spot on the net was £11:49 on Play.com or £11:95 over on Zavvi.
Amazon has the season one Blu-ray going for £17:99 which isn’t bad either. If you’ve seen it cheaper let us know.
From the forum threads this week we have Kevinj telling us that the BBC’s horror mockumentary Ghostwatch is available in-store at Morrison’s for a chilling £3.
Wyngarde brings news that the season one DVD of the 2006 Batman animated series is available at Amazon for just £2:99. Staying with Batman cartoons, Wee Little Puppet Man reports that HMV is selling the Batman Year One DVD for £7:99 from Monday.
If anyone out there spots a sci-fi bargains they want to share then please pop over to the forum and mention it in the relevant threads. This thread is for bargain films and this one is for TV bargains.
Remember bargain hunters: keep your eyes peeled for great offers for your fellow geeks and maybe your find will be in the bargain list next time.
