Mama, R.I.P.D., Hannibal Lecter, Resident Evil

Mama
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – Jaime Lannister in Game Of Thrones – will star opposite Jessica Chastain in the supernatural thriller, Mama, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Produced by Guillermo del Toro, the film is a feature-length version of a Spanish short by Andres Muschietti about a pair of girls trying to escape from what they think could be the ghost of their dead mother. Coster-Waldau and Chastain will play a couple who take in their formerly-lost nieces and nephews after the children are found living in the woods on their own.

R.I.P.D.

Celebuzz has a bunch of pictures showing Kevin Bacon and Ryan Reynolds in Boston filming supernatural flick RIPD. The film is based on Peter Lenkov’s Dark Horse comic about a police department with jurisdiction over the dead. It’s being directed by Robert Schwentke (RED) and is planned for a 28 June, 2013 release. Click on the image to see more.

Hannibal Lecter TV Series In Development
Okay, the Lecter films weren’t SFX territory, but the news that everyone’s favourite fava bean-eating screen psycho is making the leap to TV is of interest, because writing the pilot and executive producing will be none other than Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me creator Bryan Fuller. Hannibal will concentrate on Lecter’s early days when he was going head-to-head with FBI agent Will Graham, a back story alluded to in Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon and the films Manhunter and Red Dragon. Martha De Laurentiis (Hannibal Rising, Red Dragon) will produce the show.

One Makes A Return To Resident Evil
Colin Salmon, who played One in Resident Evil, will return in Resident Evil: Retribution. Salmon revealed on Twitter: “Confirmed I will be shooting new Resident Evil movie. Paul Anderson has written an amazing script.” That’ll be a first, then. Salmon has also appeared in Alien vs Predator, Blood: The Last Vampire, Hex and Doctor Who (as Dr Moon in “Silence In The Library”/“Forest Of The Dead”).
