Awards And More Awards
Game Of Thrones, The Vampire Diaries, Twilight and Harry Potter are the big weekend winners

The awards calendar got a little confusing in the States this weekend as both the Television Critics Association and the Teen Choice Awards battled it out to be the best ceremony with the initials TCA.
In the upmarket Critics awards the only genre show to win recognition was Game Of Thrones, which quite rightfully won “Outstanding New Program”. Other winners included Friday Night Lights and Mad Men. You can see the full list here.
Fantasy predictably did a lot better over at the Teen Choice Awards, but partly because they separate categories into genres. This resulted in the bizarre situation where team Edward beat Team Jacob in the Choice Movie Actor: Drama category – which Twilight: Eclipse’s Robert Pattinson won – but Team Jacob triumphed over Team Edward when Taylor Lautner won Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part Two won Choice Movie Of The Summer, while its predecessor won Choice Movie.
On the TV side of things, the big genre winner was The Vampire Diaries which nabbed Choice TV Show: Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Choice TV Male Scene Stealer (Michael Trevino), Choice TV Female Scene Stealer (Katerina Graham), Choice TV Actor: Sci-Fi/Fantasy (Ian Somerhalder), Choice TV Actress: Sci-Fi/Fantasy (Nina Dobrev).
