Another Disney Theme Park Ride Heading For The Big Screen
Following the massively successful Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise and the not quite so cinema-tills-trembling Haunted Mansion, Disney is set to make another movie based on one of its theme park attractions. And while a big screen version of the Matterhorn ride – a kind of rollercoaster, with faux bobsleighs on tracks racing around a plastic incarnation of the famous mountain – doesn’t sound very SFX, the ride (originally built in 1959) was refurbished in 1979 to include growling yetis. (Erm, aren’t yetis supposed to be in the Himalayas, not the Alps?) According to Heat Vision, the film will be called The Hill (huh? Not The Mountain? That’s like making a Godzilla film and calling it Lizard) and will be, “a thrilling, fast-paced movie centering on five young adventure seekers who, for mysterious reasons, are called to the top of the mountain and encounter a Yetis on the journey down.” Disney is also developing Magic Kingdom, a film set entirely within one of its theme parks, with Jon (Iron Man) Favreau set to direct.

Sony Sets Date For Emmerich’s Singularity
Sony has announced that director Roland (Honey, I Blew Up The World Half A Dozen Times) Emmerich will be helming a new blockbuster project for them with the working title Singularity. Little is know about the plot as yet, but Deadline confirms that it will have a release date of 17 May 2013. That’s if we survive 2012, presumably.

King Of The Elves
There’s a new animated film based on a Philip K Dick story on the way, but don’t expect anything like A Scanner Darkly. Variety reports that Horrible Bosses co-writer Michael Markowitz is now working on Walt Disney Pictures’ King Of The Elves. The project has actually been bubbling away in development hell for a few years, but now seems to be back in active production, with a provisional 2013 release pencilled in. Amazingly, it’s based on a 1953 short story by Dick, who’s not normally known for his Disney-friendly plots, and concerns a gas station owner who’s invited to become the King Of The Elves. Chris Williams (Bolt) is currently attached as director.

Neil Gaiman Talks Who On The Late Late Show
Neil Gaiman was interviewed on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson in the US earlier this week. He didn’t have much newsy to reveal, but it is fun (even if Ferguson does get a little over familiar…)

Catwoman’s Costume
Goss site Hollywood Life claims to have an exclusive from an “insider” about what Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman costume will look like in The Dark Knight Rises: “Anne’s outfit is more tactical, like the comic book, than (in) the previous Batman movies. She will definitely be wearing the goggles and it’s going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costumes. She’s going to look more like a robber. But fan boys shouldn’t be worried. This costume is going to be form-fitting enough to make Anne look smoking hot.”
