The Pack: Exclusive Clip

Check out a new, dark and creepy French horror movie that’s out on shiny disc in July, and help decide what’ll be the DVD cover art. NSFW

Forget zombies. Ghouls are the next big thing. The Pack (aka, La meute) is a blood-splattered, French horror film full of the blackest humour that caused a bit of a stir at the 2010 Fantasia International Film Festival. Directed by Franck Richard, it’s a clear descendant of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre with a bit of Saw in its DNA too, but with a tone and quirkiness that’s distinctly European.

Alone on a road trip, Charlotte (Émilie Dequenne – Brotherhood of the Wolf) stops at the side of an isolated side to pick up a hitchhiker, Max (Benjamin Biolay). But when the pair pulls into a truck-stop restaurant a few miles later, Max goes to the bathroom… and disappears. Puzzled, Charlotte returns to the restaurant that night to look for him, only to become ensnared by La Spack (Yolande Moreau – Amélie, Gainsbourg), the sinister matriarch of a strange and terrifying ‘pack’. Before long, Charlotte realises that she is next on the menu…

The DVD is out on 4 July and you can help decide what the sleeve will look like. The DVD sleeve for The Pack is being designed by horror illustrator extraordinaire Graham Humphreys, who has provided three sketches that could make the cut. From tomorrow, you will be able to check them out and vote for your favourite on the Prepare To Be Scared Facebook page.
