New promo shots from V; Japanese space opera; Damon’s greatest lines; Tom Hardy definitely in The Dark Knight Rises
V Season Two Promo Pics
Multipleverses has tons of new promo pics from the second season of V, which returns to US screen on 4 January.
The Maze Runner
Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Red Riding Hood) is in negotiations to direct The Maze Runner for 20th Century Fox, reports TheWrap. It’s based on the first book in a sci-fi trilogy by James Dashner, about a bunch of amnesiac boys stuck in glade surrounded by a giant maze. Every 30 days a new boy arrives. But then one day a girl arrives instead.
Alex Proyas May Direct AMP
Author Daniel H Wilson (right, who also wrote Robopocalypse, which is being turned into a movie by Steven Spielberg) has announced on his website that the rights to another of his novels, AMP, have been sold to Twilight producers Summit. Apparently Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City, I,Robot, Knowing) “is attached to produce and is likely direct.” AMP is a techno-thriller that explores and expands the definition of what it means to be human.
Tom Hardy Confirmed & Heath Ledger Confirmed Not in Dark Knight Rises
Despite bizarre rumours this week that Heath Ledger‘s Joker would appear in the next Batman film via outtakes and CGI, Nolan has debunked the scuttlebutt in an interview with Thompson on Hollywood, while also conforming that Tom Hardy (who appeared in the director’s Inception) does have a role. “The script is due in January for a July release,” says the article. “But [Nolan] wouldn’t say what the story’s about or who the villain is, other than to confirm that Inception’s Tom Hardy will play ‘a key role, not saying good or bad,’ and to shoot down reports that he’ll resurrect The Joker by including unused footage of Heath Ledger’s performance in the previous chapter. ‘That’s all wrong,’ said the writer-director.
Damon’s Greatest One-Liners
For no apparent reason, and oddly right in the middle of the season, TV Guide has posted a list of the wit and wisdom of The Vampire Diaries’ Damon Salvatore. Still, it’s a fun read, and proves that while the show may be no replacement for Buffy, at least one of the characters seems to have been schooled in the Whedon Way With Words.
The First Two Minutes Of Space Battleship Yamato
Bemoaning the lack of big space battles on screen recently? Then this might sate your appetite. Okay it’s all in Japanese, but big spaceships are big spaceships in any language. The big-budget, live action take on the legendary anime series opens today in Japan. No news yet whether there’ll be an English dub and international release.
