The Hobbit Adds Jekyll’s James Nesbitt
Plus newcomer Adam Brown. Both of them are dwarves
Irish actor James Nesbitt, star of Steve Moffat’s Jekyll, Cold Feet and The Deep, has joined the cast of The Hobbit as Bofur, a disarmingly forthright, funny and occasionally brave dwarf.
“James’s charm, warmth and wit are legendary as is his range as an actor in both comedic and dramatic roles. We feel very lucky to be able to welcome him as one of our cast,” says director Peter Jackson. Nesbitt joins a cast headed up by the star of another Moffat series, Sherlock – Martin (Dr Watson) Freeman is playing Bilbo.
Also joining the cast is Adam Brown, who will play Ori, another dwarf (which going by current dwarf casting on the film, must mean he’s about six foot tall). Jackson says, “Adam is a wonderfully expressive actor and has a unique screen presence. I look forward to seeing him bring Ori to life.”
