The SFX Art Challenge #1: Zombie Doctor Who
Show off your creative skills to the world by turning the Doctor and co into brain-munching undead
UPDATE (24 Oct): the closing date for entries has now passed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to enter! We’ll be publishing the results online… er, soon as we can. And if you’re one of the winners, we’ll be dropping you a line to let you know.
Hello all! We’ve had an idea for an irregular feature on the website, which came to us after belatedly seeing some superb pieces of art by a blogger called Molitorious (check out the website here).
Look! It’s Zombie Spock!
This got us thinking: we’d like to see the same kind of thing done for Doctor Who. So we thought we’d ask you lot to have a go. Send us your art of Doctor Who zombified! It doesn’t have to be Matt Smith – it could be Karen Gillan, or old Doctors and companions, or even enemies and monsters – we’d quite like to see a zombie Cyberman, actually. And a zombie Zygon would be wonderfully alliterative.
It could be in the form of a painting, a pen and ink drawing, a cartoon, a pencil sketch, a crude PhotoShop montage… whatever you want. And you don’t have to be the world’s greatest artist – a crude daub that makes us guffaw is just as likely to make the final cut.
We’ll publish a gallery of the best entries here on the SFX website and tweet about them on our Twitter feed for the rest of the world to enjoy. We might even print one or two in the mag proper. And we’ll probably send our favourite artist some spare tat from the office, or something. So what are you waiting for? Get cracking! Send your finished artwork to firstname.lastname@example.org (or, if you really must, by snail mail to Ian Berriman, SFX, Future Publishing, 30 Monmouth Street, Bath, BA1 2BW – don’t forget to write your name and email on the back, and if you need the artwork returning be sure to tell us that and give us your address). The closing date is three weeks from today: Saturday 23 October 2010.
