Bryan Talbot’s coming to the Weekender

The British comic book creator joins in the fun at Camber Sands

Hollywood might currently be fixated on bringing the big boys of Marvel and DC to the big screen, but if the bigwigs had any sense they’d be adapting the esoteric works of brilliant British comic book creator Bryan Talbot. And we’re delighted to announce Bryan will be joining us at the SFX Weekender 2, taking place in Camber Sands, East Sussex 3-5 February 2011.

Starting his career in the British underground comics scene in the late ’60s/early ’70s, Bryan is perhaps best known on this side of the pond for his influential, parallel worlds, sci-fi strip The Adventures Of Luther Arkwright. No mean feat considering later in life he would move on to an award winning stint at 2000AD and DC imprints Hellblazer, Sandman (with Neil Gaiman) and Batman. His most recent work, Grandville, is an unmissable anthropomorphic steampunk detective thriller with the follow-up Grandville Mon Amour available December 16th (check out the preview below).

Bryan will be available for signings, participating in panels and giving a Grandville presentation at the weekend long sci-fi spectacular where you can also see the likes of Pat Mills, Anthony Head and George Takei. The SFX Weekender 2 takes place at Camber Sands in East Sussex Friday 4th February to Saturday 5th February 2011, with our Pre party on Thursday 3rd February for the early birds. VIP tickets are already sold out, and tickets for the pre-party are going fast, but there are still other options available. Make sure you get yours before it’s too late! Book now by calling 08700 11 00 34, or head to www.sfxweekender.com/tickets for more information.
