Teaser For The Sequel To The REAL The Wicker Man

Not that Nicolas Cage nonsense. Yes, the long-awaited sequel to be directed by original director Robin Hardy finally begins to take shape, with a teaser trailer…

For a long while, a sequel to classic Brit horror musical (well, it is sort of a musical, and even the director admits that) The Wicker Man seemed more like wishful thinking than anything that anyone would actually back with serious money. But then we started hearing that original director Robin Hardy and original star Christopher Lee would be reteaming to bring us The Wicker Tree, a mere 37years after the virgin-burning original. Still it seemed like one of those projects that would never, ever really got off the ground. Then filming began. And it seemed the dream was coming true. We were finally going to see a sequel.

Then nagging worries then set in – do we actually, really want a sequel? Will it… Can it live up to the original? Or will it all be one big vanity project? You so desperatrely want it to be good, but you’re already preparing for disappointment.

And then a teaser trailer comes out – and it is the teasiest of teasers – and you get all excited again. Okay, it’s blimmin short, but somehow, the feeling, the atmosphere is right.

Can Robin Hardy really make lightning strike twice? And will that lightning hit The Wicker Tree? Oh, we pray it does (but we won’t sacrifice any virgins to make sure it does). And we can’t help wondering if we’ll get to see Christopher Lee in drag again. It’s been too long.
