New Character Added To True Blood
It’s somebody who features big in the books the show is based on, so only click on through if you don’t mind minor spoilers
The character of Holly Cleary is making the transition from the pages of the Southern Vampires Mysteries to the TV show that those books inspired – True Blood. She will be played by Lauren Bowles, who has been contracted to appear in five episodes of season three with an option to return as a regular character in season four (read that again – season four! Looks like the show has a healthy future if they’re thinking that far ahead).
Cleary is a mother-of-two in her thirties who applies for a job at Merlotte’s and creeps out Arlene (Carrie Preston) with her oddly prescient observations. In the books it is reveals that (highlight the next bit for the real spoilery info) she’s a practising Wiccan. Lauren Bowles has recently had guest appearances in Private Practice and Cold Case.
Since nobody seems quite sure about Preston’s future on the show (she recently signed up to appear in a multi-episode arc of The Good Wife which is filmed in New York, far from True Blood’s studio home in California) maybe the option to keep Bowles on for season four could mean her getting rapid promotion at Merlotte’s?
