Angela Bassett Added To Green Lantern Cast

But which character from the comics will she be playing?

ER and Strange Days actress Angela Bessett has joined the cast of The Green Lantern, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog. She’ll be playing Dr Amanda Waller, who in the Green Lantern comics was a government agent in charge of the Suicide Squad, a government-run group of captured supervillains who carried out missions in exchange for eventual freedom. There’s no indication yet if The Suicide Squad will feature in this first Green Lantern movie, or any proposed sequels.

The Green Lantern, which stars Ryan Reynolds in the lad role and also Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Tim Robbins, began filming in New Orleans earlier this month. Expect pap shots of the Green Lantern costume soon…
