Is Downey Defying Gravity?
No, he’s not joined the Glee cast for a production of Wicked. He’s in talks for Alfonso Cuaron’s new SF pic
Robert Downey Jr is in negotiations to star in Gravity, the new SF film being directed by Alfonso (Children Of Men) Cuaron, according to Deadline New York. You remember Gravity? It was the one that Angelina Jolie was supposed to have signed up for, thus quashing plans for her to star in any Wanted sequel. But then it turned out she wasn’t starring in it at all (though she still turned down Wanted 2 as well), and Warners even went on record saying that Gravity wasn’t even greenlighted at the time anyway.
Well, it looks like things are still progressing on the project, which has been co-written by Cuaron and his son, Jonas. If cast, Downey would play play the leader of a team posted at a remote space station. While he and a female colleague are traveling outside the space station, the other team members are decimated by debris from an exploded satellite.
According to the Deadline article, the film is due to made in 3D, though there’s no indication of a possible start date. David Heyman, who worked with Cuaron on Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban is set to produce.
