God in 3D

The Book Of Genesis is heading for the big screen, in 3D of  course

God may have made the world in six days, but you can bet it’s going to take Walden Media a darned site longer to tirn the first book of the Bible into a 3D movie extravaganza. Yes, according to Deadline New York, we’re soon going to have serpents, arks, floods and celestial fingers leaping out of the screen at us.

Walden Media (the company behind the Narnia movies – which, of course, contain religious allegories) is teaming up with Paramount Pictures to bring us In The Beginning, a spectacular based on Genesis. That’s the one where God creates the world, then watches us humans ruin it all, gets in a hissy fit and drowns the planet. Oh, and he also invents Latin and Greek just to annoy us.

A script has been written by John Fusco (Hidalgo), and David (The Dark Is Rising) Cunningham. The budget, however, is reported to a decidedly non-epic £30 million. Dunno about 3D, but you’d be hard pressed to create a pop-up Bible on that amount these days.
