Nope, not the long-awaited for Call of Cthulhu adaptation, but a fanciful, Terry Gilliam-esque biopic of the seminal horror writer which combines elements of his real life with his monstrous creation. Universal studio has bought the film rights to Image Comics’ graphic novel, The Strange Adventures of HP Lovecraft, with the project a potential directing vehicle for Ron Howard, reports Variety.

Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan and Sean Bean have signed on to play Greek Gods Medusa, Chiron and Zeus respectively in Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief. According to Variety it’s a family adventure about Poseidon’s 12-year-old half-human son (Lerman), who embarks on a quest across modern-day America to save his mother, return Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt and prevent a deadly war between the gods. Chris Columbus will direct.
Lost Actor Finds Vampire Role
Ian Somerhalder, who was Boone in season one of Lost, will star in US TV network CW’s new vampire series, The Vampire Diaries, reports Variety. He will play Damon, a smug vampire who can go from playful to evil in a split second. The show based on a series of books from Alloy Entertainment, centres on a woman who falls for two vampire brothers – one good and one evil. And clearly it’s only a coincidence the pilot got the go-ahead after Twilight was a box office success…
Director Michael Vaughan hasn’t even finished work on the big screen adaptation of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass yet, and the two are already in talks for another collaboration: a movie of Millar’s American Jesus, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It’s the story of Christ returning to the modern world, leading to a final confrontation with the Antichrist in a bid to save humanity.
