I’m abit worried by this news! Moving the show to BBC One and making the series one five-part story… seems like a backdoor pilot to reboot the series to me, and if it doesnt get good ratings it will be cancelled :-(

Fingers crossed they’ll see sense and bring Captain John back and introduce the Daleks into the series.

AmI the only to realise that having the third series on bbc1 over 5 days means that it will be THE EVENT TV of that month with lots of publicity and the best shot it could possibly have of becoming an ongoing regular part of tv.

If it moves to BBC1 will it still be as daring as it was on the smaller channels? If it’s on post watershed then possibly, if they turn this into a mainstream drama then it’ll be Primeval.

The thing is I always felt Torchwood should have been a family drama to fill the Who slot, but for some reason it wasn’t created for that timeslot. If it changes now it would be huge step backwards for the show.

We’ll just have to wait and see, but they got rid of Owen & Tosh so if it fails I don’t care.

Another success for the Who camp. The fact it is moving to BBC1 just shows how popular and good this show is. The first season had it’s problems but then what brand new show doesn’t. Great news, while i don’t enjoy this as much as Dr Who, i still think this show has improved in leaps and bounds and am looking forward to see what happens now they have lost two of their members.

Any one remember what happened to the X-files when they did that?
9pm for a while then shunted to only showing around midnight on the odd week that they had space in the graveyard. Hopefully torchwood won’t go that way I love it.

I hope this is good news and Torchwood moving to BBC1 doesn’t mean it will become sanatized to the point its no longer aimed at adults.

A move to BBC One can only be good news for the show and for British television sci-fi in general.

While series one was very ‘meh’, I thought they got a lot right in series two, the majority of the episodes were really good television, and I really grew to like some of the characters, something which did’nt happen with the first series.

Seconded. Hopefully the very fact that it’s coming to BBC1 will convince them that they need to produce a much better show – all this channel-hopping and format-jogging smacks of last chances being doled out–if it had been me, they wouldn’t even have got a third season. Season two was tragically poor, but I really hope they can pull it back.

So a very shortened third season followed up (if it happens) by a still shortened fourth season. Not really great news is it?

Still, perhaps its for the best. With shorter seasons perhaps they can work on producing a better quality of script, something the show really needs.

Torchwood has gone from student happy BBC Three to cult happy BBC2 and now on to so called flagship channel BBC1

I’ve heard about promotion but this is utterly ludicrous!
