Wrong. Just so wrong. Aside from the fact that the artwork is just plain terrible, the poster seems to be under the misapprehension that we care that Richard Pryor is in the movie. You can see the hand of a powerful agent at work here: “My talent will only do the movie if he’s big on the poster. Sign here please.” To be fair, at least it warns you that you’re going to have to suffer huge swathes of lame comedy, eye-rolling and wavy arm schtick in place of the elegant superheroic action of the previous two movies, but to be honest they’d have done better to disguise that fact. The two previous Superman movies had had stylish, iconic poster campaigns; this may look more comicbook, but the emphasis sadly is on comic.
